Hello, world!
Hello, world. I started this blog because I love Glee*, which will probably make you say, “Well, duh, EVERYONE loves Glee.” But it’s not just that I love it; I love how it makes me FEEL. And I never came to terms with it until tonight, when I read what was probably the 475th Facebook status update devoted to Glee. So I said to myself: Dammit, I’ve got to do something about it.
I’ve been thinking a long time about why this show in particular brings out the best in so many of us, so why not delve further?
Reasons I love Glee:
1. I love posting Glee status updates (let’s get that out of the way right now), ”Like”-ing Glee-related miscellany on Facebook, and reading the FB newsfeed on Thursday mornings.
2. The throwaway lines are laugh-out-loud funny.
3. I love Kurt Hummel – his personality, his relationship with his dad, his flair, his baby face, and really just anything that comes out of his mouth.
4. I know Quinn is bitchy, but she’s also just so pretty, I can’t stop staring at her. She’s like a sparkly unicorn pony.
5. The haters think that people who like Glee are predisposed to like musicals, American Idol, show tunes, and the like. Well, I’m here to tell you that while I do love music, I am not a fan of any of the above. It’s just that the musical numbers ARE SO AMAZINGLY, EARTHSHATTERINGLY, PHENOMENAL.
6. I love how the snarky digs are subtly woven into the plot construction (ie, the saving-ourselves-for-marriage group).
7. ”Bust Ya Windows”.
8. I get pitifully excited thinking about creating a running list of the best Glee quotes on my new Glee Facebook group.
9. I derive a large portion of my self-worth from watching shows that the snooty Washington Post TV critic praises highly.
10. Jane Lynch and all of her Christopher Guest movies.
11. Whenever I feel sad, I think about the “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” episode.
So, friends, join me on this adventure that is Glee. The fun is just beginning…
Oh, and please comment away! I hope that this space will become a living, breathing community for all the Gleephobes in this wonderful world of ours.
Yours in Gleefulness,
Yours truly
*I also have always wanted to learn WordPress, but that’s sort of beside the point.
